Terms of use
Last updated 30 September 2026
These terms apply to Selecta, the Mac app, and to this website. Selecta is made by 1912TECH in Amsterdam. By using Selecta you agree to them. If something here is unclear, mail hello@selecta.dj.
What Selecta is
Selecta analyses the music on your Mac, works out genre and the moment in a set for each track, and adds playlists to Rekordbox. It runs on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 15 or later, with Rekordbox installed. Your music and your library stay on your computer.
The free week
- The first time you sign in, you get 7 days of Selecta for free. No card is needed.
- The free week runs once per computer, whichever email it is started with.
- During the free week the Assistant has a smaller allowance, and Selecta adds a limited number of playlists to Rekordbox. The app shows how much is left.
- When the week is over, Selecta asks you to buy it. Nothing is charged unless you do.
The subscription
- Selecta costs €12 per month, including VAT. It renews every month until you cancel.
- Payment is handled by Stripe, through Link, which sells the subscription to you as a reseller. Stripe charges your card, handles VAT and sends your receipts; its terms apply to the payment itself.
- You can cancel any time from your account. You keep Selecta until the end of the month you paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Your rights as a consumer, including any right to withdraw from the purchase, are not affected by these terms. If something is wrong with a payment, mail us and we'll help.
- If we change the price, we tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
Your license
- Your subscription gives you a personal license to use Selecta on up to two devices at a time. The email you pay with is your license: it is the one you sign in with.
- Please don't share your account, resell Selecta, or work around the license checks, the free week or the limits.
- Selecta keeps working offline for up to 30 days, and then needs to go online once to check your license.
The Assistant
The Assistant builds playlists from your library when you ask it to. It comes with an allowance per month, shown in the app. It can make mistakes: it only ever makes a draft, and nothing is added to Rekordbox until you choose to add it.
Your library and Rekordbox
Selecta only ever adds playlists to Rekordbox. It never deletes, renames or moves what you already have, it won't write while Rekordbox is open, and it copies your Rekordbox library to a backup folder before every change. Still, keep your own backups of your music and your Rekordbox library, as you would with any software that works with them.

Updates and changes
Selecta updates itself: a new version downloads in the background and takes effect when you restart. We may change or improve features over time. If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we tell you by email before the change applies.
Liability
We do our best to make Selecta reliable, but we can't promise it will always be free of errors or available. As far as the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid for Selecta in the 12 months before the problem, and we are not liable for indirect damage such as lost gigs or lost income. This does not limit liability for intent or gross negligence, or any right you have as a consumer that can't be limited.
Law
Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the court in Amsterdam, unless the law gives you as a consumer the right to go to the court where you live. You keep the protection of the consumer law of the country you live in.
